The Chinese public security authorities have resolved 27,000 criminal cases of intellectual property rights (IPR) violations and the production or sale of counterfeit and defective products in 2022, according to official data on Wednesday 20th.

The Department of Public Security has initiated multiple special programmes to suppress IPR violations and infringement activities related to counterfeit products since 2022, officials said.

The Ministry also released a group of cases on Wednesday. By January, the police in Zhejiang, Liaoning and Shandong cooperated to solve a case of pirated copies of movies released during the Spring Festival holiday, and 28 suspects were arrested.

On August 2022, Peking police busted 21 people on suspicion of producing and selling unauthorised products related to the Universal Beijing Resort and seized 46,000 counterfeit products on the spot.

An official from the ministry said that the Chinese police would continue these special programmes this year and strengthen their efforts in this area to better protect the rights and interests of the public and businesses.
